PSC S SQUIB RIVER RACE REPORT SUNDAY 18 th December 2022

The rain held off and the tide was favourable and we even had some nice wind

as well , Four competitors two returning Swallows after many weeks Peter

Wyss crewed by his daughter in Quicksilver , Yasid with his friend with

boyfriend from Wisconsin as crew , new member Wolfram with partner as

crew in their newly acquired Jerry and Jeremy with Eppi as crew in Cabaret 7

Cab 7 possibly aided as race officer Jeremy counts the time got the best start

but the pack was not far behind ,On a turning tide the fleet had a beat down

the river , no clear better side , Cab 7 went far out on port tack and eventually

made Selat on one tack Jerry took a more moderate tacking course and at the

mark was not far behind , Jerry is newly anti fouled and Cab 7 was cleaned

some weeks ago, the second division have not been sailed for weeks and were

visibly slower . A spinnaker run back and into the river against the tide saw

Cab 6 inshore ( north shore ) in amongst the dredgers whilst Jerry worked the

south shore finishing several minutes back, Quicksilver was third and Ratosch

AKA the Squirrel finished fourth

Back in the Gym the Commodore produced a bottle of Prosecco and Rose

hunks of delicious Mark and Spencers Christmas fruit cake to celebrate the

Sunday before Christmas

Next Sunday is Christmas Day and even the Commodore is not that keen !

Will we sail on New Years Day ?? who knows but for certain there wont be any

Icicles

The first three Sundays of January 5 th 12 th and 18 th a number of members

will be in Langkawi for the Royal Langkawi International Regatta starting on

January 9 th Commodores Jeremy s BLUE ANGEL with Martin and Wolfram

amongst the crew Vice Commodore Rama Menons VG OFFSHORE , Sophie /

Jacobs DASH and slightly to our surprise lapsed member Stuart Williamson

Beneteau 34.7 now named APW Endeavour are all entered , we had hoped

MJ Loga s RECAA would participate but it seems she is unlikely to be ready

With the Clubs TIGER Macgregor 25 and Jega s LEOPAD DREAM X34 which he

has kindly allowed PSC the use of for 2023 we have a great cruiser racer fleet
