First UK National Squib Class Malaysian National Championship 27/28/29 th May, Pulau Indah Marina ,

Peninsular Sailing Club Selangor are delighted to announce the dates and

venue of the Squib National Championship to be held on 27/28 /29 th May

2022

PSC founded in 2016 as a sailing club and based at the Pulau Indah marina

began purchasing these safe and responsive 19 ft keelboats in 2016 when

Commodore Jeremy Camps persuaded some contacts in UK to sell us the boats

at very reasonable prices, they arrive 2 to a 40 ft container on road trailers

with all gear spinnakers etc , they are mainly racing boats in the UK but we

recognised here they were truly multipurpose training/learning , they are sit in

rather than sit on hence completely save , here they are sailed with outboard

engines for safe berthing although for the championships they will be towed

out

PSC a recognised Squib fleet now has 14 boats , sailed every Sunday through

out the year by PSC s 45 members many came as beginners and are now

highly competent and winning racers

For the Championship PSC have fortunate to secure the support of Simon

James from Phuket as Race Officer ie racing organiser , Simon is the most

competent and respected Race Officer in Asia handling the Royal Langkawi

International Regatta as well as other major regattas like Phuket Race Week

His presence will ensure good and fair racing for all competitors

Pulau Indahs clean water and the rivers width will ensure that the short racing

program can take place in front of the club house providing spectators with an

excellent view whilst the Long distance Races will go out into the open water

Melaka Straits

In order to ensure as wide a representation as possible PSC will be inviting a

ladies team and hopefully some of the younger sailors from around the

country to compete in keelboats
